
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 28: Strengthening its efforts to safeguard public land, the District Administration of South Andaman carried out a large-scale eviction drive across multiple locations, reclaiming valuable government property from unauthorized occupation.
In the early hours of 28th March 2025, revenue authorities swiftly intervened to prevent an illegal land grab at Aberdeen village, where unscrupulous elements attempted to erect three unauthorized structures on government land. Acting promptly, officials dismantled the makeshift constructions on-site, thwarting the encroachers’ efforts before they could gain a foothold. This proactive action resulted in the immediate restoration of approximately 400 square meters of prime government land to public use.
Simultaneously, eviction proceedings were conducted at North Bay, leading to the removal of additional encroachments. The swift and coordinated response of enforcement teams helped reinforce the message that encroachments will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, in Bambooflat village under Ferrargunj Tehsil, revenue authorities continued their crackdown, expanding the eviction drive initiated the previous day. Several unauthorized structures were removed, and encroachers were issued strict warnings against further attempts to grab government land. Altogether, a total of 1000 square meters of land has been successfully reclaimed and restored to its original status at North Bay and Bambooflat village.
Further, in response to a complaint regarding fresh encroachment over Government Revenue land at Temple Myo, the encroachment covering a total area of 1244.08 hectares in the form of a temporary hut in its initial stage was demolished and approximately 200 square meters of Government Revenue land were restored.
Residents are strongly urged to refrain from unauthorized occupations, as stringent legal action will be taken against violators.
