Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 20:The Block Development Office, Ferrargunj, under the aegis of RGSA, organized a one-day training program on ‘Building Synergies Between Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) for Community Development’ at the CMTC building, Ferrargunj. The session aimed to empower elected women representatives, Community Resource Persons (CRPs) and SHG members by highlighting the importance of collaboration between SHGs and PRIs in fostering sustainable community development.
The program was initiated by Shri M.K. Hussain, Pradhan, Stewartgunj Gram Panchayat, who provided an insightful overview of the formation and evolution of SHGs. He emphasized the crucial role of women in decision-making and how the integration of SHGs with PRIs can significantly enhance grassroots development.
Smt. Pramila Kumari, Zilla Parishad Member, Chouldari, encouraged participants to actively engage in decision-making processes and take leadership roles in their communities.
The session also featured an address by Smt. Deepa Biswas, Domain Expert (Livelihood) from the Directorate of Rural Development, PRIs & ULBs, who provided an in-depth overview of the significance of synergy between SHGs and PRIs.
Smt. Taposi Saha, Pradhan, Chouldari, shared real-life experiences and success stories of SHG members. Through compelling examples, she demonstrated how SHGs have transformed lives by promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment. The program served as a crucial platform to reinforce the role of SHGs and PRIs in community development and emphasized the need for collective efforts to drive positive change at the grassroots level.
