Rangat, Mar. 20: As part of the ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ initiative, the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District, Smt. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, visited Rangat Tehsil today. During her visit, she conducted an interactive session with PRI members and local residents, addressing key concerns and ensuring swift redressal. As part of this initiative, she handed over subdivision orders for four cases and brought long-awaited relief to a 92-year-old settler, Shri Pulin Behari Dey, by correcting an error in land records that had persisted for decades.
Shri Dey, a Bengali settler who arrived in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the Government Resettlement Scheme of 1954, had been struggling for years due to a clerical mistake in the Record of Rights (RoR). Acknowledging the legal and emotional hardship he faced, Smti Maharaj, promptly reviewed the case and directed the necessary correction. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Shri Dey expressed heartfelt appreciation for the swift and compassionate resolution.
She also inspected key development projects in Rangat with Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman and Executive Engineer, APWD, Rangat including the construction of the upcoming Women’s Hostel. Additionally, she visited the Community Health Centre (CHC), Rangat, where she interacted with doctors and medical staff to assess ongoing challenges and ensure improved healthcare services for the public.
Reaffirming her commitment to efficient governance and citizen welfare, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for time-bound resolutions to long-pending matters. Her proactive approach, supported by the District Administration highlights the Administration’s dedication to enhancing public services and addressing land and development issues without unnecessary delays.
