Sri Vijayapuram, Mar 19:In compliance with the Chief Secretary’s directive for conduct of quarterly mock drills across all departments, the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, conducted an Earthquake and Fire Mock Drill at the Labour Commissioner Office, Sri Vijaya Puram, on March 19, 2025. The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Shri K. Srinivasa Rao, Labour Commissioner, A&N Administration, to assess emergency preparedness and response capabilities of the Department.
Prior to the drill, a Table Top Exercise was conducted at 10:00 AM in collaboration with the District Administration, A&N Police, Health, and Fire departments. During this session, officials finalized the earthquake and fire scenarios and assigned roles and responsibilities to the Incident Command and departmental teams at the Labour Commissioner Office.
The drill commenced at 11:05 AM and carried out fire and disaster alarms, safe evacuation procedures, emergency communication with SEOC (1070), DEOC (S/A) (1077), ERSS (112) and resource departments, as well as search and rescue operations, first aid, and other emergency response measures were taken. All response teams acted efficiently to manage the simulated disaster, and the Incident Commander declared an “All Clear” at 11:30 AM marking the conclusion of the drill.
A debriefing session followed, during which the Labour Commissioner appreciated the active participation of the staff and acknowledged the support of resource departments in successfully conducting the drill. He also assured that the Labour Department would continue to strengthen its preparedness and response systems to effectively manage disasters.
