Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 18: A Capacity Building and Training Workshop was held on 17th March 2025 at Lecture Gallery, JNRM, Sri Vijaya Puram by the Nature Club department of Zoology in association with EIACP, ANRC, ZSI focusing on the vital aspects of biodiversity conservation, insect identification, and the role of remote sensing in biodiversity monitoring.
Dr. Minakshi Dash, Programme Officer, Environmental Impact Assessment Cell (EIACP), ZSI,ANRC, Sr Vijaya Puram, speaking on the ocassion emphasized on the biodiversity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with a particular focus on the identification of insects. Sreebashia TC, IT- GIS Officer, provided an informative talk on remote sensing applications in biodiversity and conservation. She emphasized the importance of modern technology in monitoring and conserving biodiversity.
Lt. Dr. Vivek Kumar Sahu, Assistant Professor talked upon the Biodiversity conservation and Its Importance. In concluding segment of the workshop, all the students took pledge to support the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) goals, committing to lead a more sustainable and responsible lifestyle. Accordingly a hands-on training session on how to create maps using QGIS, a software tool widely used for geospatial analysis was held. The event was attended by a diverse group of students and professionals with a keen interest in environmental studies and conservation practices.
