Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 17: In compliance with the directive of the Chief Secretary for quarterly mock drills in all Departments, the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration conducted a Mock Drill on Earthquake and Fire in the Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayat, Sri Vijaya Puram on March 17, 2025. The drill was conducted in collaboration with the District Administration, A&N Police, Health, Fire, NDRF, and Electricity Departments to assess the Department’s emergency response to disaster scenarios.
Before the drill, officials from Resource Departments finalized the Earthquake & Fire Scenario and briefed about the Roles & Responsibilities of Incident Command and Departmental Teams in a Table Top Exercise held at 10 am. Accordingly, the drill commenced at 11.15 am, during which, all activities, such as fire and disaster alarms, safe evacuation, emergency communication with SEOC (1070), DEOC (S/A) (1077), ERSS (112), and other resource Departments for support, search & rescue, first aid, etc. were carried out efficiently. The Resource Departments also responded promptly to manage the earthquake and fire scenario within the Department. Upon completion of all activities, the Incident Commander issued an ‘All Clear’ message at 11.45 am to conclude the drill.
A debriefing session was held after the drill, during which, all observers appreciated the active participation of officials and staff. They also urged the Department to provide basic life-saving training to all staff to ensure their safety and enable them to respond effectively during emergencies.
