Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 16: The Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Bhubaneswar, has launched a 12-day skill development training program on tour guiding from 12/03/2025 to 24/03/2025 including weekends. This initiative aims to empower unemployed local youths by equipping them with the necessary skills to build a career in the tourism sector.
Given the substantial inflow of French tourists to these Islands, a key highlight of the training program is an introduction to the French language. This will help participants’ bridge communication gaps and provide a more immersive experience to French-speaking travellers. The training includes language sessions, cultural sensitivity training, and practical exposure to guiding techniques.
This initiative aligns with the A&N Administration’s vision to improve the quality of tourist services and boost the local tourism industry. Experts from IITTM Bhubaneswar have provided specialized training modules covering history, culture, heritage, conservation, hospitality, communication skills and exposure to Foreign Language i.e. French .
This program is an excellent opportunity for unemployed local youth to develop essential skills and secure a livelihood in the tourism industry. The inclusion of French language training is particularly beneficial, considering the growing number of French visitors to the region. The initiative has garnered enthusiastic participation from local youth, reflecting their keen interest in professionalizing the sector. Upon completion of the training, participants will receive certification, enhancing their employability and career prospects in the tourism industry.
