Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 16: The spiritual fervor in Sri Vijaya Puram reached new heights as large number of devotees gathered at ISKCON Andaman, Brichgunj, to celebrate Gaur Purnima, the sacred occasion that commemorates the birth of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is revered as the incarnation of Lord Krishna in the age of Kali. He established sankirtan (the congregational chanting of the holy names) as the most effective means to attain spiritual enlightenment and pure devotion to God. The grand event was marked by soul-stirring kirtans, Maha Abhishekam, pravachan (spiritual discourse), a Nagar Sankirtan, and a grand feast, making it a spiritually uplifting experience for all.
The festivities began at 4:30 AM with the Mangala Arati, followed by Darshan Arati and Guru Puja in the morning, filling the temple with divine vibrations. A major highlight was the Nagar Sankirtan, where devotees joyfully took to the streets of Brichgunj, singing and dancing in ecstatic devotion, spreading the teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Throughout the day, continuous kirtan resonated within the temple, leading up to the Maha Abhishekam of Lord Gauranga at 4:00 PM, where the deity was ceremoniously bathed with sacred offerings like milk, yogurt, honey, and fruit juices. Devotees were also enriched with spiritual wisdom during the pravachan session, which highlighted the essence of bhakti (devotion) and the chanting of the holy names. As evening descended, the temple witnessed a vibrant Sandhya Arati and Kirtan, immersing devotees in divine bliss. The celebrations concluded with the Mahaprasadam distribution at 7:00 PM, where attendees relished a sumptuous feast prepared with immense devotion.
To ensure smooth transportation for devotees, the Directorate of Transport arranged an additional bus service at 8:00 PM. The ISKCON Temple Committee extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Directorate of Transport for their valuable support and expressed appreciation to all devotees for their cooperation in making the event a grand success.
