
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 10: In commemoration of arrival of first batch of freedom fighters in 1858 , Chinmaya Mission in association with History department of JNRM organised a Seminar yesterday on “Andaman: The land of Struggle and Sacrifice” at Mission auditorium. The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr Anil Agrawal, IAS Secretary A & N administration in the presence of Mr. Gauri Shankar pandy, Guest of Honour and other invited dignitaries.
Speaking on this occasion Chief Guest Dr Anil Agrawal IAS said that the younger generation should be made aware about the sacrifice of our freedom fighters and their contribution in freedom movement.
Guest of honour Mr. Gauri Shankar pandy a renowned personality from Island narrated the incidents of British and Japanese Period.
The resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati explained the purpose of Seminar.
After the inauguration two technical sessions were conducted in which Prominent citizens including Dr Prem kishan, Dr Rohinder Lall, Mr. Manohar Singh, Dr RVR Murthy, HOD, History briefed the audience about the history of Islands and different incidents happened during British and Japanese Period. Students from the history department of JNRM Ms Awantika Khakha, Ms Nikita Tirkey, Ms Saraswati presented papers on different topics. Dr Anjusha Sharda also spoke. Mrs. Manju Jha and Mr. R Raghunath proposed the vote of thanks. Open sessions were also conducted. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Abhijit Agrawal.
