Sri VijayaPuram, Mar 07: In accordance with the directive of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, mandating quarterly mock drills across all departments, the Directorate of Disaster Management conducted a Fire Safety Drill at the Directorate of Accounts and Budget (PAO), A&N Administration, on 07.03.2025. The drill was carried out under the directions and supervision of Mr.Swarnendu Das Gupta, Director (Accounts & Budget), A&N Administration, to assess the department’s fire safety preparedness. All officers and staff of DAB actively participated in the exercise.
As per the fire scenario, early warning teams issued alerts and instructed everyone to evacuate the office building immediately and assemble at the designated safe area. Following this, the Incident Commander directed the teams to initiate search and rescue operations for missing persons. The teams successfully rescued five injured individuals with the assistance of fire teams and extinguished the fire at the incident site. The medical team provided first aid to the injured and transported them to hospitals via ambulances.
After the completion of the drill at 11:40 AM, a debriefing session was held under the chairmanship of the Director (A&B), A&N Administration. He assured that resources would be updated and all teams would receive further training as per the observations of the resource departments of Police, Fire, Health, District Administration and Electricity, thereby enhancing DAB’s preparedness to handle emergencies effectively.
