Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 6: The two days State Level Re-orientation Training programme for Ayurveda Doctors under the Health Department, was organized by AYUSH Wing of DHS and A & N State AYUSH Society, National AYUSH Mission on March 5 & 6,2025 at TGCE Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The training focused on ‘Prevention and Management of Non- Communicable Diseases and Musculoskeletal Disorders through Ayurveda’. Prof. Dr. Vasudevan Namboothiri, a veteran Ayurveda Clinician and Former Director, Medical Education (ISM), Govt. of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and Prof. Dr.K.R. Kohli, a renowned Clinician, Researcher and Former Director, Medical Education (AYUSH), Govt. of Maharashtra, Mumbai, were invited as resource persons from the reputed Ayurveda Institutions of the country.
The inaugural session held in the morning of 5th March, 2025, was chaired by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary (Health)/MD (NHM & NAM) as the chief guest while Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services was the guest of honor.
In his address, the Secretary (Health) lauded the efforts taken by the organizing team of AYUSH for meticulously designing the topics of the training, relevant to the increasing burden of NCDs. He shared his personal experiences of using Ayurveda remedies in day to day life.
Earlier, Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH) welcomed the gathering while Dr. Suryakant Singh, MO (Ayur) proposed the vote of thanks.
During the technical sessions, various topics under Prevention and Management of Rheumatic Diseases (i.e. Sandhighata Vata, Vatashonita and Amavata) through Ayurveda, were covered by Prof. Dr. Vasudevan Namboothiri.
Prof. Dr. K.R. Kohli, covered various topics under Prevention and Ayurvedic management of Non-Communicable Diseases i.e. Hridroga, and Prameha- Diabetes Mellitus including its complications like Nephropathy, Retinopathy, Neuropathy etc.
The session on importance of diet and life style for prevention and mitigation of various types of Arthritis, was taken by Dr. Kalyan P Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH) and the session on Ayurvedic Diet and life style for prevention and management of Diabetes Mellitus by Dr. Rekha, Specialist Panchakarma, AYUSH.
29 Doctors actively participated in RoTP and were awarded with the Certificates of Participation during the valedictory function chaired by Dr. K.R. Kohli.
