Baratang, Mar. 6 : A significant milestone in healthcare delivery for the North and Middle Andaman region was achieved today with the inauguration of a new Sub Centre at Wrafter’s Creek, attached to PHC Baratang. The Sub Centre, designed to cater to the healthcare needs in far-flung areas of Wrafter’s Creek was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary (Health), Mission Director (UTHM), A&N Administration, marking a momentous occasion for the local community.
The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed officials and PRI members, including Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, Dr. Siddharaju, Deputy Director (Family Welfare), Shri Alagarswamy, Zilla Parishad Member, Smti. Sumari Roy, Pradhan and Shri Sathish, Up-Pradhan, Nilambur Panchayat, Dr. Nadia Rahman, Medical Officer (I/C), PHC Baratang and Dr. Rahul, GDMO.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Agarwal emphasized on the importance of Sub Centre in providing preventive, promotive and curative service to the local population and he also appealed to the gathering to actively participate and cooperate with health workers in implementing all the national health programs.
The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of more than 200 people, highlighting the importance of this new healthcare facility for the local population. The inauguration marks a significant step in the development of healthcare in North and Middle Andaman, with hopes to further expand medical services to other remote areas in the near future. This initiative is expected to have a transformative impact on the health and well-being of residents in Wrafter’s Creek and surrounding villages.
The event concluded with the vote of thank by Dr. Nadia Rahman, Medical Officer I/C, PHC Baratang, who expressed her gratitude to the Administration and all the PRI members in making this initiative a reality.
