Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 6: To mark the observance of Animal Husbandry & Animal Welfare Awareness month from Feb.14, 2025 to March 13, 2025, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, A&N Administration is organising Animal Birth Control Programmes in different parts of the Islands.
The Animal Birth Control campaign held at Veterinary Hospital on March 4, 2025 at Garacharma was inaugurated by Shri Vetrivel, Ward Councillor, Garacharma. He urged the general public to abstain from throwing kitchen wastes with other sharp wastes etc. in plastic bags as livestock consume such wastes thereby risking their life. He further stated that increasing number of accident of livestock is encountered because of straying of animals on road which can be controlled by proper housing and feeding.
Three teams headed by Dr. Baljit Kaur, SVO, Dr. V Subramanium, SVO and Dr. Parag Deori, SVO operated upon the pet animals. Similar Campaigns were also organized at Veterinary Dispensary at Swaraj Dweep and Veterinary Hospital at Diglipur.
