Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 05: In accordance with the directive of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, mandating quarterly mock drills across all departments, the Directorate of Disaster Management conducted multi disaster mock drill on Earthquake, Tsunami & Fire scenario at Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC), Sri Vijaya Puram on 05.03.2025 to test the preparedness level of the Council.
As per scenario all staff followed earthquake safety measures and evacuation started after the stop of the mock earthquake tremor at 11:00 am. Communication team of SVPMC issued an alert and warning through PA System to vacate the whole building immediately and sought assistance and support from resource departments through helpline numbers. The SEOC and DEOC informed all resource departments for deployment of their teams to SVPMC to manage the disaster scenarios. All resourced departments (Fire, Police, Electricity, NDRF, Transport, and Health Departments) reached the incident site and carried out all activities as per the directions of Incident Commander of SVPMC.
This drill was also observed by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray during his visit at SVPMC and discussed with the officials of resource departments about the drill and appreciated by the Administration for their efforts towards disaster preparedness in ANI.
The drill was successfully completed at 11:40 am. In the debriefing session held at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram wherein all recourse departments elaborated their observation regarding finding and gaps of the drill. The Incident Commander, EE, SVPMC has assured the SVPMC to strengthen their disaster preparedness level and organize regular drills to test the same.
