Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 04: The three day Chess in Schools (CiS) programme, an initiative of the Department of Education, A&N Administration, commenced today for the trainees of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan DIET Garacharma, at its auditorium. Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey HoO (Education) made the ceremonial first move against a second year trainee to begin the programme in the presence of Mr. Mohd. Irshad Ahmed, Asst. Director (PE/ Sports, Department of Education, A & N Administration and other officials of the Education Department.
Addressing the gathering, the HoO (Education) highlighted the significance of the programme and encouraged participants to make the most of this opportunity to deepen their understanding of the game.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mohd. Irshad Ahmed, AD (PE/Sports) emphasized how chess nurtures essential life skills such as planning, strategy, problem-solving, and decision-making, all of which are crucial for students’ overall development. He also highlighted the purpose of the Chess in Schools (CiS) programme for DIET trainees.
