Sri Vijaya Puram, March 03: The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Choldhari, South Andaman Smti Tapasi Saha has been nominated as a delegate to the 02 days National Workshop for Women Elected Representatives (WERs) on the 4th and 5th March, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Smti Tapasi Saha, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Choldhari said that she received a letter from the Office of the Director, Directorate of RD, PRIs & Urban, Local Bodies, Marine Hill, Sri Vijaya Puram and the Chief secretary, A & N Administration has nominated her as a delegate to the 02 days National Workshop for Women Elected Representatives (WERs) on the 4th and 5th March, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, the letter read, she said.
The participation in the workshop is also in connection to developing Gram Panchayat Choldhari, South Andaman as a Model Women Friendly Gram Panchayat by the A & N Administration, she said.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is organizing a National Workshop of Women Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions wherein “Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan” will be launched on 4th March 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. According to a Press Release at New Delhi, it is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity-building interventions for elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions across the nation. It focuses on sharpening their leadership acumen, enhancing their decision-making capabilities, and reinforcing their role in grassroots governance, the statement explained.
Recognizing the crucial role of elected women representatives in rural local governance, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has devised a strategic roadmap to enhance their leadership and ensure their active participation in decision-making. Ahead of International Women’s Day, for the first time, elected women representatives from all three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) will convene on a national platform to engage in meaningful and action-oriented dialogue, the statement said.
Smti. Saha, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Choldhari, South Andaman has reached New Delhi today for participating in the national worksop, she asserted.
