Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 27: Andaman Mahila Mandal, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mr. Vijaya Puram, solemnly observed the 59th Death Anniversary of Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar with a series of commemorative events.
The program commenced with the garlanding of Veer Savarkar’s portrait by the esteemed guests, followed by floral tributes from all attendees as a mark of respect to the great freedom fighter.
On this occasion, Dr. Sachidanand Shevde, International Orator & Writer from Mumbai, Maharashtra, graced the event as the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring speech on the invaluable contributions of Veer Savarkar to India’s independence movement. He also recited a heartfelt poem in honor of Savarkar, highlighting his sacrifices and visionary thoughts.
Mr. Arvind Patil, Secretary of Maharashtra Mandal, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of remembering and propagating the ideals of Savarkar. The event was further graced by Mr. Gorakhnath Patil, President of Maharashtra Mandal, Mrs. Sarsamma, social worker and former Secretary of Andaman Mahila Mandal, and other executive members, who shared their insights and paid homage to the great freedom fighter.
Earlier, Mrs. Pramila Kumari, President of Andaman Mahila Mandal, delivered the welcome address, where she emphasized the need for installing a statue of Veer Savarkar at Veer Savarkar Park, Coastal Area, Chouldari. She highlighted that such an initiative, along with an inscription detailing his contributions, would serve as an inspiration for the younger generation, fostering a sense of nationalism and patriotism. She further mentioned that all followers of Veer Savarkar will visit the site in the future as a mark of respect.
As part of the day’s activities, youth participants created Rangoli artworks dedicated to Veer Savarkar, while various paintings depicting national unity, integrity, and the Viksit Bharat Mission were displayed, supported by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mr. Vijaya Puram.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Patil, Secretary, Andaman Mahila Mandal, ensuring its smooth execution and active participation from the attendees.
The event served as a fitting tribute to the legacy of Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, inspiring the youth and the community to uphold the values of nationalism and selfless service to the nation.
