PS Ograbraj Arrests Offenders for Attacking On-Duty Forest Officials

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 19: On the night of 16th January 2025, an alarming incident took place during a night patrolling operation in Port Mout, Brindaban RF – Block-1, Caddlegunj, when a team of forest officials, apprehended individuals engaged in illegal sawing down of a Padauk tree.
During the operation, one of the offenders, identified as Deepak Singh (known as Shilbu) attempted to resist arrest by wielding a machete which resulted in an injury to one of the forest workers. As the situation escalated Shilbu’s brother Ghan Shyam Singh (known as Deepu), who was armed with a machete arrived on the scene and verbally threatened the forest officials to kill them and demanded the release of his brother. In the ensuing chaos, the offenders managed to escape under the cover of darkness, taking advantage of the night hours.
In response to the seriousness of the attack and the threats posed to the government officials on duty, a formal complaint was lodged by Range Officer, Tushnabad with PS Ograbraj, leading to the registration of a case under relevant section of law at PS Ograbraj. Acting swiftly, a team consisting of ASI Ranjit Baroi, HCs Nelson Kumar Kindo & Bijoy Sarkar and PC Abubacker Siddique was quickly formed for the search and arrest of accused persons. On 17th January 2025, accused persons were apprehended and brought to PS Ograbraj for interrogation. The weapons used in the crime was recovered and seized. Later, arrested offenders were produced before the Hon’ble Court from where they were sent to Judicial Custody.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Ograbraj under the command of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat and overall supervision of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
