Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 18: ICAR-KVK, Nimbudera, (ICAR-CIARI) N& M Andaman organized a field day on Air layering/ Gootee techniques in horticultural crops at farmers field at Janakpur village, Rangat on 13th November, 2024.Dr. V. Damodaran, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Nimbudera, provided the practical demonstration of the air layering techniques in lemon, guava, and cinnamon plants. He illustrated the benefits of these techniques in improving plant propagation, ensuring the conservation of desirable plant characteristics and enhancing crop yield. The demonstration underscored air layering as a practical, cost-effective technique, especially valuable for crops that are challenging to propagate from seeds or traditional cuttings. Mr. Rakesh Dawar, SMS provided insights into the air layering technique, emphasizing its effectiveness in propagating healthy, mature plants with high survival rates. A total of 15 farmers and farmwomen participated, gained practical knowledge on the implementation of air layering techniques. The program was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
