Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 18: The Pahargaon Police Station under leadership of Inspr. Mohd Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon, has achieved a significant breakthrough in its investigation of an NDPS Act case registered on 28.10.2024. The case pertains to the seizure of 2.075 kg of illicit Ganja and the arrest of five individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Initially On 28/10/2024, upon receipt of credible information, a raid was conducted at Jodakilan by team of PS Pahargaon led by Insp Mohd Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon that resulted in arrest of 03 accused persons and seizure of around 1.775 kgs of Illicit Ganja. Based on the raid, a case was registered at PS Pahargaon and an investigation was initiated. During investigation additional 300 gms of illicit Ganja was recovered from the arrested accused persons. A deeper detailed interrogation revealed names of 02 more accused persons, who were responsible in procuring, transporting and importing the Illicit Ganja from the mainland. The same persons were traced and arrested.
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that one of the accused Vinith Kumar had been working in close collaboration with another individual R. Vijaya Kumar, a resident of Koilambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, who was the main supplier in this chain of supply and distribution of the illicit Ganja. Acting on this information, a police team comprising Sub-Inspector Manish Narayan and ASI B. Semaiah from Pahargaon Police Station was deputed to Tamil Nadu to locate and apprehend the accused.
After thorough efforts, the police team successfully arrested R. Vijaya Kumar on November 14, 2024, in Chennai. He was subsequently produced before the JMFC-II Court in Alandur, Chennai, where a transit remand was obtained. The accused was brought to Port Blair on November 15, 2024, and presented before the Court of Special Judge (NDPS) in Port Blair, which granted police custody for further investigation.
This arrest highlights the commitment of the PS Pahargaon in curbing the menace of drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the region. The accused is currently in police custody, and further investigation into the case is underway.
The entire raid was conducted under the supervision of Miss Anushtha Kalia, IPS, SDPO (SA), and the overall supervision of Mrs. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP(D), South Andaman.
