Harinagar/Diglipur, Nov. 14: The residents of Pinakinagar and adjacent areas under Gram Panchayat Harinagar are facing serious communication difficulties due to the lack of reliable mobile network coverage.
According to information, the absence of connectivity is impacting daily activities, including essential communication, online services and emergency access. Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily Shri Manojit Halder, Pradhan, GP Harinagar said that the constructional work of BSNL Mobile Tower located at Pinakinagar Ward No.I was reportedly completed about six months ago. However, residents in the area are experiencing hardships owing to the delay of its operational commencement, the Pradhan decried.
The Pradhan wrote a letter to the Chief General Manager, A & N Telecom Circle, BSNL, Sri Vijaya Puram on 12th November 2024 urging the CGM to make the tower an early operation which will greatly improve access to stable and uninterrupted mobile network and its services, Mr. Halder said.
The Pradhan then didn’t sit idle, and he seemed not to be reportedly pleased with mere letter correspondence to this effect, he then proceeded to Sri Vijaya Puram and met the newly appointed Chief General Manager (CGM) of BSNL, Shri KVN Rao and discussed the status of the BSNL Tower constructed at Pinakinagar. Shri Halder elaborated on the situation, mentioning that the tower was established with the support of the Chief Secretary of A & N Islands and the former CGM of BSNL. However, despite the tower’s completion nearly six months ago, the necessary underground cable has not yet been laid, delaying its operational status. Shri Rao assured Shri Halder that, as the Gram Panchayat falls under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), priority will be given to initiate the cable-laying process. He further confirmed that efforts would be made to complete the project at the earliest, ensuring improved connectivity for the region, Mr. Halder added.
