Port Blair, Aug 19: IGNOU Regional Centre Port Blair has introduced two new courses in Agriculture Studies- Certificate in Beekeeping (CIB) and Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits & Vegetables (DVAPFV). These courses will be beneficial for rural youth, agricultural entrepreneurs, agri-business managers etc. Certificate in Beekeeping (CIB) will provide technical knowhow to the traditional beekeepers in order to facilitate the adoption of improved technologies available in this area. At village level, successful honey production provides nutritional and economic security and also empowerment to the farmers, farm women, and rural youth. Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits & Vegetables (DVAPFV) has been developed with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India. The programme aims to develop competent human resource in the field of post-harvest management of fruits and vegetables and production of value-added products from them. The programme caters to educational requirements of the horticulture farmers, food processors, skilled workers and technicians in the fruits processing industries.
Admission in IGNOU for July-2024 is still on and the last date to register oneself in certificate, diploma, UG or PG is 31st August 2024.
