Port Blair, Aug 19: To combat the menace of illicit drugs in N&M Andaman District, PS Kalighat has once again demonstrated their determination by continuing the fight against drug peddlers.
Acting on a tip-off that a person is traveling on a motorcycle with registration number AN01Q3389 towards Talbagan area, is in possession of a significant quantity of illicit Ganja, a raiding team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of PS Kalighat and comprising of HC (D) Rupesh Kumar and PCs Subrata Biswas, Sushil Sarkar, R Devika, and Subralekha along with two independent witnesses was constituted and swiftly reached Kalara junction and hid themselves. The raiding team was supervised by Mr. Ankesh Yadav DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.
After waiting for the suspect, the suspected motorcycle was spotted approaching Kalara Junction. The raiding team immediately intercepted the motorcycle and conducted a search, resulting in the discovery of 200 grams of illicit ganja in the possession of the motorcycle rider Bipin Bairagi S/o Bimal Bairagi, 25 yrs R/o Talbagan. Following thorough interrogation, the accused person confessed to his crime. Subsequently, the accused was arrested, and a case was registered at PS Kalighat under the NDPS Act.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
