Port Blair, Jul 23: In 1955, a few determined individuals assembled in Bhopal under the guidance of Mr. D.B. Thengadi – a thinker and intellectual who had earlier dedicated his entire life to social work, accepting the noble principle of self-abnegation. He gathered a group of committed workers around him to work selflessly for the organization. BMS was founded on the 23rd of July, 1955 – the birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a veteran of the Freedom Movement.
From its inception, it was envisioned as a trade union anchored in nationalism, aiming to function as a genuine trade union while keeping itself scrupulously away from party politics. This approach was unlike other trade unions, which were often linked to one or another political party, either overtly or otherwise.
On the occasion of the 70th Foundation Day of BMS, a program was organized today at Goalghar by the BMS State Committee and its affiliated units. The BMS flag was hoisted by Mr. Rakesh B. Chandra, State Vice President of BMS. Dr. Amitabh Dey, Vibhag Karyavah of RSS, addressed the gathering, inspiring the attendees with the spirit of nationalism and a selfless determination to work for the downtrodden members of society. The event was attended by various committee members and renowned social workers from all segments of society.
Mr. Sunil Ghosh, State General Secretary of BMS, expressed gratitude to all members present at the program and to those who wholeheartedly supported the successful completion of the event.
