Port Blair, Jul 22: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands today took up the matter pertaining to crew members working under Directorate of Shipping Services, posted in Inter Island Vessels with the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, through a letter.
The MP informed the CS that the wages of the crew members working in Inter-Island sector vessels has not been revised since 01.04.2012. The revision of wages of employees in other sectors under the Administration have been revised, the case of Crew members of Inter-Island sector vessels has been long pending. In absence of enhancement of wages the crews of the Inter Island sector are facing hardships to fulfill the needs of their family. Incidentally many of the roster crew members have attained superannuation without obtaining the eligible benefits due to non-revision of wages. The retired personnel too are waiting arrears on revision.
The MP has urged upon the CS to look into the case personally and issue appropriate directions to expeditiously resolve the long pending matter.
