Port Blair, Jul 22: The Zilla Parishad Badminton tournament was successfully organized under leadership of Mr. Ashish Joon, Chief Executive Officer, N&M Andaman from 18/07/2024 to 21/07/2024. This event witnessed a remarkable display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit. Altogether 40 players from various regions Mayabunder, Diglipur and Rangat competed in this tournament of thrilling matches, showcasing their talent and dedication.
The tournament inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mrs. Elezabeth, Adhyakha, Zilla Parishad, N&M Andaman and Guest of Honor Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP, N&M Andaman who unveiled the trophies. Mr. Tapas Roy (Up-Adhyaksh), Members of Zilla Parishad, Mr. Subrato Basu, Mr. Pradeep Das, Mrs. Sunity Halder, Mr. Ashok Howladar, Smti Aporna Roy, Mr. Sankar Mondal were also present.
In Doubles Shiv & Arpit of Mayabunder defeated Suresh & Dipesh of Diglipur in straight set by 21-19 and 21-17, wherein in Singles clash M. Yoosuf defeated Shiv in a thrilling decider by 14-21, 21-18 and 24-22 and got the title of King of Strings of ZP Cup.
On conclusion Chief Guest Dilkhush Meena, IAS, DC, N&M Andaman distributed the trophies to the Winners and Runners of ZP Cup and the tournament winded up by the vote of thanks by Ashish Joon, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, N&M Andaman.
