Port Blair, July 15: The District Child Protection Unit South Andaman, under District Administration organizes Cleanliness Drive at Chidiyatapu Beach on 13.07.2024 with the children of Child Care Institutions under Swachata Action Plan.
The objective behind the cleanliness campaign was to bring consciousness among the children about the importance of cleanliness and responsibility towards the environment so that every child should come forward for extending their helping hands in maintaining the surroundings by keeping them neat and clean.
The program began with a small briefing on collection of waste and significance of its segregation by the District Child Protection Officer, South Andaman wherein all the children were encouraged to participate in the drive actively.
The children of Child Care Institution along with Gram Pradhan, Beodnabad and DCPU team collected and segregated the trash from every corner of the beach such as plastic bags, cool drink cans, wrappers etc. and handed them over to the waste disposal team of Gram Panchayat Beodnabad for the safe disposal.
Thereafter, fun activities were organized for children like musical chairs and other games. Around 150 participants participated enthusiastically in this cleanliness drive.
The District Administration, South Andaman always strives to conduct such activities to create awareness for children as well as for general public to make our environment and surrounding neat, clean and pollution free.
