
Port Blair, July 10: An awareness programme focusing on the theme “Maternity Benefit week was organized by the ICDS Urban Project in coordination with the health department on 10.07.2024 at Bathubasti Anganwadi Centre. The event was graced by the presence of Shri. Dilip Chandra Baroi, Health Educator, Smti. Sadhana, Public Health Nurse from District Hospital Garacharma, along with the CDPO of the ICDS Urban Project, ICDS functionaries, Poshan staff, and Hub for Empowerment of Women staff.
Smti. Sadhana (PHN) provides awareness to field functionaries, pregnant women, and lactating mothers on early pregnancy diagnosis, proper medication during pregnancy, and breastfeeding techniques. She emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for the first six months to ensure a healthy immune system in newborns and explained the JSY scheme for promoting institutional deliveries.
Shri Dilip Chandra Baroi (Health Educator) delivered an enlightening briefing on mental illness, emphasizing the impact of daily stress and tension. He also discussed leptospirosis, a disease caused by exposure to animal urine and pee, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and explaining its symptoms along with those of mental illness.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smti. Zarina Bibi CDPO, ICDS Urban Project.
