Port Blair, July 10: The District Industries Centre, Department of Industries, A & N Administration, Port Blair organized a series of Awareness cum Motivational Programme on Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other Govt. Sponsored schemes of the department at various pockets of Nancowry group of Islands. The Programmes were organized in association with Banks, Tribal Council, NYK, AH&VS, Fisheries and other line departments. The objectives of the Programmes were to disseminate information to the tribal participants about the PMEGP Schemes apart from other incentive oriented various Schemes of the departments.
The unemployed persons and the youths of concerned areas participated enthusiastically. They were motivated in setting up self-employment ventures under Manufacturing, Service and Business sector by availing the opportunity under PMEGP Scheme. Although the tribal youths are reserved, but the educated youths raised many doubts during the interaction session about the operating modalities of the scheme which were resolved amicably. They were guided on the procedures of PMEGP application and filled in hard copies of the applications were collected which shall be forwarded online to the scheduled banks after online verification and completion of the formalities.
All total 12 numbers of prospect entrepreneurs were selected from Katchal, Champin, Teressa and Kamorta Islands for the financial assistance under PMEGP Scheme to undertake various activities as self-employment.
