Port Blair, July 09: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign). The event, which took place on Saturday from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM, was met with enthusiastic participation from the local community, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering a healthy and drug-free society.
The Hasgulla Club initiative uniquely combines physical fitness with drug awareness, offering a holistic approach to well-being. The Sunday sessions are led by Ms. Gayatri, a trained yoga instructor from the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman. In these sessions, she conducted Surya Asana and highlighted the benefits of yoga and meditation in combating drug addiction and enhancing mental well-being.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), graced the event with his presence and delivered an inspiring motivational address. He emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines and its numerous health benefits, encouraging participants to make yoga a regular practice.
The Directorate of Social Welfare invites all interested individuals to join the transformative Hasgulla Club program.
