Port Blair, July 9, 2024 – The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Pencak Silat team has brought immense pride to the archipelago by securing a remarkable 25 medals at the 5th South Zone Pencak Silat Championship held in Pondicherry on July 6th and 7th, 2024.
The team, comprising 26 players, showcased exceptional skill and determination, resulting in an impressive medal haul of 13 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze.
This outstanding performance was highlighted by Logarjun M., the team’s coach, trainer, and senior player, who made history by becoming the first gold medalist from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the senior category of Pencak Silat Martial Arts (fight).
The championship witnessed participation from various regions, but the Andaman and Nicobar squad set a new benchmark with their commendable achievements. The President of the Island’s Pencak Silat Association and founder of the Global Academy of Modern Fitness, Shihan MS Murugan, along with General Secretary T. Anilkumar and other association members, were present to support and celebrate the team’s success.
