Nancowrie, July 9:The Chief Secretary, A&N Islands, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, today virtually inaugurated the e-Corner at Nancowrie Tehsil, marking a signification milestone in the implementation of online services in the remote Island. Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Nicobars was also present virtually. Shri Ravindra Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowrie and Smti Aysha Majeed, Chairman Tribal Council, Kamorta, and many other line Departments Head of Office were also present on the occasion.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar informed that two e- corners have already been established in the two Sub Division of Nicobar District, (Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay). The e-corner, established at the Nancowrie Tehsil Office, aims to bridge the digital divide and provide seamless access to various online services for the local residents of these Islands. This initiative is part of the District Administration’s efforts to enhance citizen engagement, transparency and accountability in governance.
The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, also informed about the present challenges faced by the District Administration for implementation of online services at cut off Islands. There are more three e-corners planned shortly at Katchal, Chowra and Teressa Island to achieve the target 100% ‘Digital India’ and also fulfil the commitment to provide the services at the door steps of the citizens of all cut off Islands of Nicobar District.
Through this e-corner, the citizen can easily access all online services in transparent and speed manner from the single window system. Apart from this, 1 CSC has also been provided the necessary credential to access online services by the common citizens. With the inauguration of e-corner, all manual services pertaining to Nancowrie Tehsil has been shifted to online mode.
During the inaugural function, Shri Ravindra Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowrie, also issued Digitalized Income Certificates to public and informed that the District Administration wants to ensure that no citizen should be forced to travel to Head Quarter or any other Islands for obtaining of any type of services (Certificate).
