Port Blair, July 8: The Office of the Medical Superintendent, G.B. Pant Hospital has constituted a special team to conduct a postmortem on the body of Late V Vimla, wife of Mr. Krishna Rao, aged 21 years, resident of Dairy Farm. The postmortem was conducted today with the involvement of four prominent medical professionals viz Dr. U Jagdish, Associate Professor & Head, Forensic Medicine; Dr. Ashwin Mallae, Assistant Professor, Forensic Medicine; Dr. Jaya Biswas, Chief Medical Officer (NFSG) and Dr. Navnath Dighe, External Expert from INHS Dhanvantari.
In the morning a crowd of approximately 300 to 400 people gathered outside the DHS office, demonstrating the public concern and interest in the case. Following the postmortem, which took about three and a half hours, the family members and prominent people were called into the DHS office for a detailed meeting that lasted two hours.
The meeting included discussions with the Director of Health Services, other officials and representatives from the Telugu community in the meeting.
The officials informed the family and the community representatives that the preliminary report would be available in two days, while the final report would take approximately ten days to complete.
Mr. Maheshwar Rao, General Secretary of Fishermen Welfare Association informed media that the family members and others have decided that till the preliminary report is given the body will be kept in the Mortuary.
He emphasized the cooperation and support from the administration and the police department throughout the process. He said that the next steps include waiting for the preliminary report, followed by a detailed analysis of the final report to conclude the investigation.
