Port Blair, Feb 24: Association of Rural People of A&N Islands (ARPAN) in association with Youth Club, Ograbraj and MAK Azad Youth club, Tushnabad organized a voluntary Blood Donation camp in the premises of Community hall, Ograbraj on 23rd Feb’2013. The camp was facilitated by A&N Aids Control Society. Dr. Naveen Govind, Deputy Director, Blood Safety, DHS and Dr. Deepankar Dhar, CMO, PHC Tushnabad were present on the occasion.
Altogether 32 youths voluntarily donated blood during the camp. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Deepankar Dhar, CMO, PHC Tushnabad highlighted on the benefits of donating blood and informed the gathering that the demand of blood in our nation is high whereas the supply is very low. Dr. Naveen Govind, Deputy Director in his addressed said that he is delighted to see the high level of motivation and awareness among the rural youths and hoped that more such camps should be organized in the nearby villages.
