
Port Blair, Mar 06: Smti. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman flagged off the Women’s Cyclathon on the eve of International Women’s Day with the theme of Healthy Women Healthy Indiathis morning, organized by the District Administration through its District Health Society (SA) in coordination with Directorate of Health Services. The DC(SA) also took part in the cycle rally along with Mr.DilkhushMeena, IAS, Addl. District Magistrate (SA), Mr. AzharuddinZahiruddinQuazi, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SA) & Mr. AnandVardhan Mishra, DANICS, Asst. Commissioner (Sett.), Dr.Suja Anthony, Deputy Director (FW), DHS and around 50 other women participants. The rally which started from the DC office (SA) culminated at Flag Point, where Mrs. T. Mangayarkarasi, Councilor Ward No. 10 received the participants by greeting them with flowers.
The DC (SA) informed that the Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) are strongly associated and casually linked with major behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, alcohol use, poor dietary habits, insufficient physical activity and air pollution. Further, the DC(SA) urged the participants that the physical and mental wellbeing is essential to keep them healthy to build a Healthy Nation. She appreciated all women participants and informed that the certificate of participation can be downloaded on 8th March 2023 on International Women’s Day from the website of the District Administration @ southandaman.nic.in.
