Port Blair, Jan 17: Under the Promotion of Sports and Fitness Program of Nehru Yuva KendraSangathan, A District level Knockout football tournament organized byFit Andaman Sports Club which is supported by Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair.
In this tournament 25 teams from the District participated.The tournament was inaugurated on 02/01/2023 at Manhar Ghat playground. TheFinal math was held on 16th Jan. 2023 and played between Maharghat YouthClub (Home Team) Vs. United Sporting Club, Port Blair and Manarghat YouthThe club won by one-nil. The tournament was sponsored by TSG foundation, StarBazaar Bambooflat and Guru ki Rasoi (NGO) and IMFC.
On the occasion of final tournament, Mr. TSG Bhaskar, Director of TSG foundation was the Chief Guest. Winners and runners were awarded withTrophy and momentous gifts by the Chief Guest and others guests were presented. TheChief Guest also spoke on the need for sports meet for the youth, which ishelpful in promoting a sense of discipline, self-help, cooperation andfriendship and thereby promote a true healthy lifestyle among the youth.While Mr. SebastinTirkey, Chairman, Andaman Adivasi was guest of honor healso spoke on the occasion that to provide opportunity to rural youth totake part in sports meets to exhibit their talent at the National Level. Mr.Nasir SHO, Bamboo flat, Mr. Sanjay Meshak, Social worker Mr. KP Mammy,International Player of Athletics were also present to grace the occasionMr. Gopal Ch. Biswas of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair also briefed aboutthe purpose of the said program and propagated the message of healthy bodyand a healthy mind through sports among the youth.
All tournaments were held at night and a large crowd witnessed all thistournaments. The tournament coordinated by Mr. Abdul Aziz, (Athleticscoach) he also proposed a vote of thanks.
