Port Blair, Nov 09: Congress Party’s Andaman and Nicobar Youth Congress in-charge, Mr. Ankit Singhai has called upon the youths to come forward for the strengthening of the Congress party. He said that the more people join the Youth Congress party, the stronger the party will be. He was addressing journalists at Gandhi Bhavan this afternoon.
He said that the office bearers of Youth Congress would be elected so as to further strengthen the party in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The election of the organization will be purely constitutional. He said that the election process will be completely online.
He said that the youth always complain that they do not get a chance. This election is a new opportunity for the youth. He said that the enrollment of membership has started from today. Online enrollment for membership can be done from November 11 to November 17. The age of the youth applying for enrollment should be 28 to 33 years. The membership will be uploaded on the website on November 20.
The election of the organization will be completely peaceful, he affirmed.
During the press conference, Youth Congress Election Incharge, the Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the State Congress Committee President Mr. RanglalHaldar, Campaign Committee President Mr. TSG Bhaskar and Youth Congress President were present.
Replying to the questions of the journalists, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma said that the MP has a constitutional post. While keeping any matter, he has to follow the constitutional limit. He said that the Chennai optical fiber cable project was stuck for the past several years. This project was completed during his tenure. He pointed out that the Rutland project was also stuck in a similar fashion for many years. This project has also been completed during his tenure.
The MP said that from time to time he has been raising the issue related to the islanders with the Union Ministers, the Hnourable Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Secretary. Action has also been taken in many cases. He said that he is the first MP who brought a private bill in the Parliament to introduce the Legislative Assembly in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He told that the job of the MP is to bring bill on such issues. It is not in the hands of the MP to pass it and implement it. It is in the hands of the central government, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma said.
