
Port Blair, Nov. 2: The Department of Industries has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME)” of Ministry of Food Processing Industries under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan with the objective to formulize and strengthen Micro Food Processing Enterprises by utilizing the local resources. Under the scheme, financial assistance in the form of Credit Linked Subsidy @ 35% of the project cost will be extended to the individual and group enterprises.
The Department has been organizing outreach sensitization programme from 25/10/2022. The programme is aimed at reaching out to stakeholders and target groups including tiny food based industries working in the rural and urban areas of A&N Islands. In the first phase, 08 programme was conducted in all 03 Districts on 27/10/2022
In the second phase, 15 programs were organized from 28/10/2022 to 01/11/2022 covering areas falling under Municipal Ward No. 6, 7 19 & 24 , Gram Panchayat, Stewart gunj, Gram Panchayat, Hut Bay, Gram Panchayat, Ram Krishna Pur, Gram Panchayat, Vivekananda Pur, Gram Panchayat, Rabindra Nagar, Gram Panchayat , Netaji Nagar in South Andaman District; Gram Panchayat, Madhupur, Gram Panchayat, Keralapuram in N & M Andaman District; Kinmai, Kinyuka & Mus in Car Nicobar , Nicobar District. The programme was witnessed and actively participated by more than 500 people from different parts of the Islands.
In the concluding programme held on 01/11/2022 at Municipal Ward No. 24, it was inaugurated by Smti. Kavitha Uday Kumar, Chairperson, Municipal Council in the presence of officials of Industries Dept & other ward members. In her inaugural address, the Chairperson, Municipal Council appreciated the efforts of the Industries Dept. which is proactively disseminating the scheme at the door step of every Ward/Gram Panchayat. She deliberated the participants about the current scenario of Govt. employment and motivated them to become an entrepreneur and employer than an employee by availing the opportunities provided through Govt. Schemes or programmes of Govt. of India as well as UT Administration. Shri Sindhupathi Raja, Nodal Officer (PMFME) gave a detailed presentation highlighting the Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Enterprises” that was launched after the COVID outbreak under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. He shared about the key details and procedure to avail the scheme for developing existing as well as new Micro level food processing industries. The programme ended with the proposal of vote of thanks proposed by Shri. R.Janak Rao, District Nodal Officer (PMFME) to the Chairperson, Municipal Council and others participants of the programme.
