Port Blair, Sept 22: An unfortunate tragedy at Anna Nagar village under Hope Town Gram Panchayatwas reported on 31st August 2022 wherein two brothers Bobby Tamang (15) &BishalBahadurTamang (12) drowned by falling in a ditch at Hope Town village under FerrargunjTehsil in South Andaman District.
Taking proactive steps to provide immediate ex-gratia relief/financial assistance to the next of kin of the deceased persons, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, ShriSuneelAnchipaka, IAS along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate, ShriDilkhushMeena, IAS handed over the financial benefits of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) to ShriKulBahadurTamang, father of deceased children in terms of the norms of assistance from the scheme A & N Island Scheme for providing financial assistance to victims of accidents (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF norms approved by the Government of India.
