Port Blair, Aug 22: The students of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) have alleged that they are suffering heavily due to unhygienic food and drinking water being supplied to them in Namakkal Training Centre, Tamil Nadu.
As per information received, 45 students from A&N Islands were selected for Chef Course in the DDU-GKY Centre, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu and the students are allegedly facing difficulties due to the unhygienic food and drinking water they are consuming for the last three months. Further, the students alleged that they are not even allowed to buy food and drinking water from outside the campus.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted the Manager of DDU-GKY, Department of Rural Development, it was informed that the department is aware about the problems being faced by the students at Namakkal Training Centre.
The Manager, who does not want his name to be quoted, said that the students have demanded to change the Job Training Centre and due to the continuous demand from the student, the Nodal officer of A&N Islands has contacted the concerned officer in Namakkal Training Centre to sort out the issue.
The Manager added that the officials from A&N Islands have already planned to visit Tamil Nadu regarding the placements of the students. Therefore, the officers will also visit the DDU-GKY Centre and inspect the facilities provided to the students and try to sort out the complaints of the students.
