Port Blair, May 01: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, JNRM in association with the Gram Panchayat Chouldari organised a ten days Skill development training Programme on Beautician in Chouldari for the women from 19th to 28th April 2022. The valedictory function was held on 28th April 2022 in the Chouldari Gram Panchayat Hall. The Chief Guest Shri. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman District delivered the valedictory address and exhorted the trainees to make use of the skills learned by them during this ten days training.
The women are having the latent skills which should be explored by them for their empowerment. A number of new initiatives have been launched by the Government to promote women entrepreneurship and in order to compete with the national and global market the women must adopt the global best practices and make them locally feasible by tune them, he opined. The Guest of Honour Dr.H.K.Sharma, Principal, JNRM delivered keynote address and informed the gathering that as part of Institutional Social Responsibility, JNRM is always forefront in taking up the community oriented projects for the welfare and development of rural masses.
The UBA is a platform which will give boost to entrepreneurship in Rural India, not only in manufacturing but also other sectors like Agriculture, Extension and Service sectors etc., he added. Smt.Tapashi Saha, Pradhan, Chouldari Gram Panchayat thanked JNRM for choosing Chouldari for conducting this type of training under UBA. She spoke on the role of Gram Panchayat for conducting various skill development training programmes for the economic empowerment of women. Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience and Nodal Officer, UBA spoke on the array of programmes focused on the ease of doing entrepreneurship with technological inputs in India through UBA, flagship programme of Government of India.
The women must come forward for bringing transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging innovation, he added. Smt. Deepa Ramanan, Panchayat Secretary highlighted the livelihood development programmes for women which is being implemented by the Government through panchayats. Smt. Gigi Gharami, Up-Pradhan, Chouldari Gram Panchayat also spoke on the occasion. Ms. Binku Mondal, Resource Person, Department of Home Science, JNRM proposed vote of thanks.
