Port Blair, Apr 05: The inaugural function of the 3 days National Conference on Veer Savarkar’s – role in Freedom Struggle, Socio-Political philosophy and abiding legacy organized from 5th to 7th April 2022 by Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, New Delhi was held in the Auditorium of DBRAIT, Port Blair.
Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Minister for State of Education, GOI was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural function. While speaking on the occasion he made an appeal to the learned Historians and dignitaries taking part in this National Conference to bring out the actual fact relating to the role and contribution of Veer Savarkar in the Freedom struggle, his transportation stint in Andaman Cellular Jail, his role in the political sphere as leader of Hindu Mahasabha, as a social reformer, as a maker of modern India and the contemporary significance of his doctrine of Hindutva.
He also said that on the 75th anniversary of Independence, considering a need to put renewed focus on the struggles undergone by Veer Savarkar and the revolutionaries, the Andaman Cellular Jail is the iconic site of both colonial racist terror and the indigenous resistance showcasing the finest hour of the unbroken human spirit on the other.
He also emphasized the role of the young generation in the future of this country and by involving students and the young generation he simply transformed the session from purely academic to a people’s program.
Dr. Balmukund Pandey, National Organizing Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, New Delhi enlightened the main objectives of organizing this National Conference.
Prof. Prithvish Nag, Former VC, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth made a PowerPoint presentation on the life history of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and also the freedom struggle and revolutions in various parts/states of the country in the pre-independent era.
Prof. Devi Prasad Singh, President (Officiating), Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, New Delhi spoke on the linkage of Veer Savarkar’s thoughts and ideology with the old philosophy of Hindutva derived from the Sanskritik Virasat referred in Vedas which also formed the basis of unity of the country inspite of being so many different colours, languages, castes and cultures.
Dr. Amitabh Dey, Vibhaag Karyavahak, RSS, A&N Island, Port Blair while speaking on the occasion said that today is a historic day for all the Islanders and makes us proud to have such a programme on the great National Hero Veer Savarkar is being organized in this Islands and extend his thanks to the organizers for selecting our Islands as a venue for such a historic conference.
The programme began with the welcome song and Vande Mataram presented by students of DIET College.
Prof. Smriti kumar Sarkar Former VC, University of Burdwan welcomed the gathering while the programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Kamlesh Dash, Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, West Bengal.
The technical session began in the afternoon from 2:30 PM onwards. Prof. Sachidananda Mishra, Member Secretary, Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi and Prof. Harihar Panda, Professor of History, National Defence Academy, Pune were the main speakers whereas Prof. Kishan Rao Vemuganti, Professor of History, Osmania University presided over the session.
During the session, the socio-political thoughts of Veer Savarkar and enlightenment on facets of attainments of Veer Savarak were deliberated in detail.
