Port Blair, Apr 01: A beach cleaning programme was conducted by the scientific team of RS Minicoy on the Southern side of the coast along with officials from IMD and RPRS in a stretch area of 250 meters (from 20 bedded hotel site to the boundary of the lighthouse) under Swach Bharat Abhiyan on 23rd March 2022.
The team collected around 09 bags of litter comprising abandoned nylon nets, plastic caps, bottles, plastic bags, Styrofoam, etc. The team sensitized the people in the area on good citizen practices to be followed and to spread the message of a clean and green India.
The scientific team of Dr. S.K Zamir Ahmed, Dr. A.K.O Ratheesh, Dr. Gladston Y., and Mrs. Ajina S.M, Mr. Shareefuddeen Hassan, (T3) regional station ICAR-CIARI along with (Officers of IMD and RPRS) conducted the beach cleaning programme.
