Port Blair, Mar 25: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has congratulated Cardiologist Dr. Srikant S in ANIIMS/GB Pant Hospital Port Blair, support team of Electrophysiology technician and Cath lab scrub nurses, CCU staff, cardiac Radiographers, the Health Department and entire Andaman and Nicobar Administration for successfully implanted the first permanent pacemaker in the recently installed cardiac Cath lab at GB Pant hospital.
As per details, two pacemaker implantations were done successfully on 19.03.2022 by Cardiologist Dr. Srikant S in ANIIMS/GB Pant Hospital Port Blair, along with a support team of Electrophysiology technicians and Cath lab scrub nurses, CCU staff and cardiac Radiographers. At present both the patients are stable and will be discharged shortly.
It was the dream of the Member of Parliament, ANI to have a Cath Lab at Port Blair and for this he had consistently taken up the issue of setting up a Cath Lab and making it functional with the Administration and Government of India.
On 08 September 2021, the Member of Parliament had raised the issue of Cath Lab with the Lt. Governor during a meeting at Raj Niwas and demanded to start operation of Cath Lab as soon as possible, considering the threat to the life of heart patients of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In March 2021, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands while debating on demands for grants under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the financial year 2021-22, the Member of Parliament had insisted upon setting up of Cath Lab and Trauma Center at G.B Pant Hospital.
On 03 July 2020 Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands had requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to consider for early establishment of Cath Lab in GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair for diagnosis and treatment of heart patients.
“This is a tremendous achievement of the Health Department and the entire Andaman and Nicobar Administration, under the dynamic leadership of the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands,” the Member of Parliament said in a message.
