Port Blair, Feb 25: Ahead of the panchayat polls in A&N Islands, the ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker along with Congress leaders Mr. Saji Varghese, Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, Mr. Ameer Bux and Mr. Ganesh Acharya camped in Adazig and South Creek Panchayats on Friday and campaigned in support of it’s party candidates. The leaders requested the residents to vote for Congress candidates in the panchayat elections.
Large number of people, especially youngsters, had gathered to welcome Mr. Bhasker in their constituencies. Carrying party flags in their hands, they were raising slogans in support of Congress.
During campaigning, Mr. Bhasker appealed people to give chance to the Congress Party and form party’s government in Zilla Parishad by casting every single vote for the ‘Hand’ symbol on March 06.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bhasker warned people that corrupt parties would distribute liquor and money from today as a short time was left for the elections. “The politicians, who are buying votes today, won’t work for the welfare of the people and Islands tomorrow. The corrupt politicians will get power with your votes and then forget about you while indulging in that power,” said Mr. Bhasker.
Mr. Bhasker added “Our party will get the youth out of the drug swamp and give them good education and employment”
