Port Blair, Jan 28: Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder has convicted one person namely Animesh Mazumder to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of that person’s natural life, for the offence punishable U/s 302/201 IPC.
This is a blind murder case which was initiated at PS Rangat FIR No.66/19 dated 16/04/2019 U/s 302/201 IPC. The fact of the case is that one Animesh Mazumder (Tailor) came to Andaman & Nicobar Islands from West Bengal along with the victim lady and stayed at Bakultala village under Rangat Tehsil as husband and wife. The said Animesh Mazumder who was already married and his wife and children are residing at Nadia District, West Bengal. During the stay at Bakultala, the victim lady/ deceased became pregnant and in order to get rid off, from the victim lady/deceased, the accused husband murdered his wife and absconded to his native place i.e Nadia District, West Bengal.
Due to prompt and industrious efforts of District Police, North & Middle Andaman under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District Shri Vichitra Veer, IPS, the accused was traced out and arrested at Nadia District, West Bengal with the assistance of local police. The case was charge sheeted in time after proper investigation.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector Somen Kumar Halder which was appreciated by the Hon’ble Court and the prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Uttam Kirtonia, Learned Additional Public Prosecutor, North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder.
