Port Blair, Dec 13: Janaki Devi Memorial College, University of Delhi in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder organized two-day Online National Seminar on the theme Tribes: Learning and Unlearning Tribal Culture under the Vidya Vistar Scheme of University of Delhi on recently through Google Meet. The national seminar was inaugurated on Dec 9.
The keynote speaker of the seminar was Padma Mr. Prof. Anvita Abbi, Centre for linguistics, JNU and invited her for the Keynote address. In her keynote address she stated that she worked among the tribes extending from the Himalayas till South Andaman. The guest of honour, Prof. Ratnabali, Dean of Academic Activities and Projects, and Coordinator of Vidya Vistar Scheme, University of Delhi stated that this is the birth of collaboration and a baby step towards academic deveiopment. Prof. Swati Pal, Principal JDMC and Dr.B. Prabhuram, Principal, MGGC expressed their views on the occasion. The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Charu Ka-la, Coordinator, JDMC.
Dr. Shilpa Chowdhury, Coordinator, IQAC and Nodal Officer of Vidya Vistar Scheme, JDMC has welcomed all the distinguished guests, research scholars and students connected to the seminar across different states of the country. A total of 50 Academicians, Research Scholars, post graduate students presented their papers across different states of country including the academicians from Andaman and Nicobar Islands and all sessions were so thought provoking and vibrant in approach revealing the in-depth study made by the researchers on the different tribes of various states which followed by good interactive sessions and coverage of a1l aspects by the chair of the session.
Mr Ranendra, Eminent Hindi Writer graced the valedictory function as the chief guest, He stated that that the tribals are very submissive, and these tribal communities respect females and the nature. He added that the perception of the mainstream needs to be changed in respect of the tribes. Dr. Ajitha Narendran, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Commerce, MGGC has presented the complete report of the Two-Day National Seminar on the occasion. Dr. B Prabhuram, MGGC, Mayabunder, Prof. Swati Pal, Principal, JDMC, University of Delhi and Dr. Sandhya Garg, Vice-Principal, JDMC has expressed their gratitude and congratulated all MGGC and JDMC team members for successfully organizing the national seminar. Earlier Dr. Shashi Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi has welcomed the gathering and also coordinated the whole prograrnme. Mr Bidhu Bhushan Mondal, Assistant Professor, Department of English, MGGC, Mayabunder proposed the vote of thanks.
