Port Blair, Nov 25: Mr. V Raja Rao, owner of Fishing Boat “Yellamma” Rajiv Nagar, Campbell Bay has been awarded a special Search and Rescue (SAR) award for saving lives of 03 fishermen of FB Manikanna boat on 24th June 2021.
According to details Mr. Raja Rao had exhibited tremendous courage to save these three fishermen of the boat Manikana, which capsized near Pillow Millow Island, close to Little Nicobar.
The “Search and Rescue award for Fishermen” was presented by the Director General, Indian Cost Guard, Chairman, National Maritime Search and Rescue (NMSAR) Board during the 19th NMSAR board meeting on 25th Nov 2021 in New Delhi to Mr. Rao.
Mr. Rao displayed a selfless duty in sync with the highest traditions of maritime fraternity by prompt response in providing assistance to the distressed crew of a boat at sea. The SAR award for the fishermen consisted of a trophy with commendation certificate.
