
Port Blair, Nov 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands staged a peaceful dharna at BJP Chowk, Rangat, North and Middle Andaman District to highlight some burning issues of these islands. The dharna was led by Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with Mr. Jyotirmay Bawali, State General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Selva Kumar, Political Secretary to State President, Mr. Malaiswamy, District President and other senior karyakartas of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Issues pertaining to the condition of National Highway – 4, posting of Hospital Technicians at CHC, Rangat, improvement of mobile network across North and Middle Andaman region, resuming ferry service from Port Blair to Rangat via Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep, Strait Island and Long Island, increasing the number of convoys to six with no vehicle limitations and abolishing the permission system and posting of Medical Specialists at CHC Rangat were raised during the dharna.
A delegation led by Mr. Jyotirmay Bawali, State General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands met Mr. Piyush Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Rangat and explained him the problems being faced by the residents. The delegation also raised several other issues with the Assistant Commissioner, Rangat. The Assistant Commissioner, Rangat gave a patient hearing and assured to resolve the issues after which the dharna was called off.
