Port Blair, Dec 17: Nearly 60 to 70 candidates today staged protest infront of Directorate of Education after publication of merit list for the post of PSTs in various streams.
According to candidates, name of many candidates who have better marks, did not figure in the merit list, while many have low marks managed a place in the list.
Candidate told Andaman Sheekha that every time during publication of merit list the Education invites claims and objections but this time, no claims and objections were invited. Candidates, who met the Director of Education, told Andaman Sheekha that the Director has asked them to submit their objections in written. Tomorrow these candidates are planning to meet the Chief Secretary.
However some candidates agreed that there could be mistake in application forms and other documents but according to them such matters must be disclosed to candidates and hence time for claims and objections must be given.
The Education Department, which is a prominent employer in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has always maintained highest level of transparency in appointments. Candidates, hope that in this case also the problems will be sorted out before the matter reaches court.
